Uninstall Microsoft Office is a free troubleshooting tool from Microsoft designed to help you completely remove Office applications as well as settings from your PC. When you are getting an error while attempting to uninstall Office, you can use third-party uninstallers like CCleaner and Geek Uninstaller, but there is an official utility available to completely remove Microsoft Office products from your Windows PC. Errors such as “Microsoft Office uninstall did not complete successfully” and “Couldn’t uninstall Office” are common error messages while trying to remove Office from Windows PC. Rename the file to MSOSYNC. Go to the Office folder and create a MSOSYNC.txt file and edit it to put the quit command in it. Search C: for MSOSYNC.EXE and note which one is the actual Office folder, then delete them all 3. In the process I also noticed some strange Skype-related tasks, which I deleted. At times, you might get an error while uninstalling a version of Microsoft Office. Open task manager and kill MSOSYNC.EXE and OSPPSVC.EXE 2. So, I disabled all its triggers (as you can see on the above screenshot). I ended up browsing around the Task Scheduler, and there it was, a task named “Microsoft Office 15 Sync Maintenance”, which launches MsoSync.exe at log on, when idle and also at a predefined time! I still renamed those files, but I wanted to go further, to be sure. But reportedly, Office will then re-create them. So I thought I could just rename both executables. However, this solution sounds a bit messy, and doesn’t really work in my case since, strangely, I didn’t have any of those executables in the Run key (which I suppose explains why WinPatrol didn’t catch it). FYI, the executable of this upload center is MSOUC.EXE (located in the Office directory), and after a few searches I found out that the executable responsible for performing the uploads/sync is MSOSYNC.EXE.

The proposed solutions (for instance here or there) to get rid of it most often suggested to go around the registry deleting references to the Upload Center’s executable, not only in the Run key but also everywhere. Select the package that you added Click Install/Uninstall Software Enter a name and description for the configuration Define the. That is all the more stupid since I’ve never used SkyDrive (or any other cloud integration into Office), so I don’t really see the point of having this junk running. For example, you can configure the document cache settings to age. From the Upload Center Settings menu, you can delete all cache files and configure how Office handles cached files in the future. (source: Office TechCenter – disable upload center via OCT 2010) The Microsoft Office suite’s document cache settings can be managed in the Office Upload Center. We don’t recommend disabling the upload center and do not provide a way to do so using the OCT. The official position of Microsoft on that matter is, as often, in the line of “we don’t care what users want, just do what we want you to do”, or if I quote: It sneakily added itself to startup without being detected by WinPatrol.
